"For years, Ben Cosgrove has traveled around the country performing solo piano versions of the lush, richly textured, place-inspired music that appears on his albums.
Now for the first time, here are thirteen instrumental songs about place and landscape that have all been recorded live in locations around the country: a ferry, a national park, a hotel, a bar, a living room, a cafe, a museum, and a backyard, in addition to several folk clubs and listening rooms.
"Solo Piano" includes four previously unreleased songs, along with piano versions of material from Ben's albums "Field Studies," "Yankee Division," and "Empty Rooms."
Ben Cosgrove has been described as "stupidly talented" (RedLine Roots) and his music has been called "compelling and powerful" (The Harvard Crimson). With this new live album, he proves that he is not just a skilled composer and arranger but a dazzling and sensitive solo performer as well."
